About Us

Interstate Refrigerant Recovery was incorporated in May of 2000. Starting with one full time and one part-time employee, we had two customers, a used Ford Aerostar van and a vision. Over the course of the next six years, we have grown to five full-time employees, six new full-sized, self-contained Freon recovery vans, a large box truck and provide our services to nearly 600 customers. We cover nine states in the Northeast, with satellite offices in both New York and Connecticut.

In addition to many Waste Management and Casella jobsites, we also service over 240 towns and communities and work with approximately 40 demolition, construction and environmental companies. IRRI also picks up and recycles Freon bearing units from apartment complexes, businesses and hospitals. Last year alone, we recovered and recycled the refrigerant from over 100,000 household appliances, as well as over 2000 large rooftop air conditioners and chillers ranging from one or two small window air conditioners to over 253 rooftop air conditioning systems on one jobsite alone, recovering over 7500 pounds of refrigerant from this one site.

As we move forward, Interstate Refrigerant Recovery is getting more involved in mercury reclamation from appliances, as well as setting up training sessions and consulting with towns and communities in the proper handling and recycling of mercury. We are also setting up a program to work with the state of New York in ensuring that refrigerants from automobiles being sent to scrap-yards is being properly recovered and recycled.
